This was my Halloween Costume for 2008. My concept was a SteamPunk inventor showing off his new wings. He's all dressed up to turn some heads at his amazing invention.
I constructed the wings from copper piping and bound them with craft wire. The straps are my roommates belts. The hat is just awesome and I've worn it every day since Halloween. The goggles are some brazing goggles I've had for years but this year I dressed them up to look a little nicer. They were ugly green before. The arm garters were made by me. People should not underestimate the sexiness of arm garters, they're classy when worn correctly.
All the copper for the wings was a bit costly. I justified it by designing an instrument which I will recycle the pipes into. It will be called a "repeating hydrophone." The repeating hydrophone will operate by dripping water onto resonating pipes at a controlled rate. Mad science following more mad science.
If someone wants this for stock go right ahead, it's not fancy. If you can improve it let me know and I'll check it out. Just give me the usual credit.
I love it. Completely Love it. I immediatly got steampunk which means you pulled off what you had hoped. I think the look on your face is rather funny...like you smelled something bad...maybe its that glitter in your undies.
Reguardless I Really really like your costume. You are Mad, and that is gooood!

At least you didn't seem to notice how the belt around my ribcage makes my stomach stick out like I have a potbelly. The look on my face was incidental, this was the best example of my costume. All the other shots turned out poorly or the wings weren't visible, and I'm darn proud of those wings. Believe me, they were a hassle to walk around with.
I didn't mention the fact that the belt made your tummy look pudgy becasue I found it rather irrelevant, but now tha tyou have brought it up...It makes me giggle a little bit.

That's an awesome costume!! I didn't dress up for halloween T.T I couldn't think of anything to be that would be cheap and wouldn't take much energy (construction and thought wise)

This took a bit of work. Those wings took a couple days because I didn't want to solder them. Icky lead. Plus soldering would have required tools I don't have. The hat, shirt and vest were all from ebay. I was going to sew my own vest (they're super simple) but I ran out of time.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
